1000 Feathers is thrilled to announce that Heather Brandt, co-founder, has been honored with the prestigious 2023 Friend of Children Award given annually by the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

When not spending time with 1000 Feathers, Heather is the Director of the HPV Cancer Prevention Program and the Co-associate Director of Outreach at the St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a social and behavioral scientist, her research addresses health disparities through innovative approaches in partnership with communities, dissemination and implementation of evidence-based approaches, and co-creating knowledge with stakeholders to improve outcomes through informed action. Much of her work has been done with churches, non-profit organizations, and healthcare settings, including in rural areas, to improve cancer prevention and control outcomes. 

The Friend of Children Award recognition highlights Heather's exceptional dedication, expertise, and contributions to pediatric research and her contribution to creating strong, resilient communities.
