Sedric’s career journey is illuminated by the words of Cicero, “Salus Populi, Suprema Lex Esto”- Let the Welfare of the people be the supreme law. With a career spanning 10 years in Public Health, his journey has charted pathways within state government, academia, and community development programs including HIV Prevention and community engagement in Indiana and South Carolina. Sedric is a motivated strategist with a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative strategies to create positive social impact. Skilled in stakeholder engagement and program management, Sedric’s work is committed to driving sustainable change and empowering marginalized communities.
His educational foundation was laid at the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Health Promotion, Education, & Behavior in 2012. He received his Master of Public Health from Capella University in 2016 and is currently a student at the University of Denver studying Nonprofit Leadership with a concentration in Social Enterprise, Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
As the son of two veterans, service to others has been with him since his early days. This commitment to others led him to his initiation in the spring of 2009 through the Theta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, service to all has continued to be on the forefront of Sedric’s 15 years of membership. He has held several positions on nonprofit boards including the Chair of the University of South Carolina Black Alumni Council in 2018, and as a Founding Board Member of the Black Alumni Collective in 2020. His service continued in Indiana serving as the Programs Co-Chair of the Indianapolis Urban League Young Professionals group, The Exchange.
Making a return to South Carolina after five years in Indiana, Sedric lives with his wife Nike and their daughter Jordyn. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, reading, journaling and watching movies and his favorite teams. Go Gamecocks!
