Melissa Strompolis

As a community psychologist, Melissa brings a unique skill set to 1000 Feathers that includes partnership and practice competencies of community research and evaluation, community and organizational capacity building, and community and social change. Her work approach to partnership and practice is grouped through ecological perspectives and community inclusion. While Melissa has worked in a variety of settings and sectors – biomedical research, child welfare, mental health evaluation, policy and advocacy, and prevention – her passion is to work alongside communities, groups, and organizations to improve conditions and environments where people live, learn, work, and play.

Melissa received a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Eckerd College, a Master of Science in general psychology from the University of West Florida, and a graduate certificate in nonprofit management and Doctor of Philosophy in community psychology from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. She also received a results-based accountability professional certification. She is a sought-after partner and collaborator in the areas of nonprofit management, strategy, and systems; child maltreatment, adversity, and resilience; and community-inclusive models, programs, and partnerships.

Currently residing overseas, Melissa can utilize her skillset to support the transformative work of 1000 Feathers, regardless of her location. She lives with her husband, Brandon, and spends her time cooking, hiking, traveling, video chatting with friends and family, and learning from books and podcasts.
